False witness

I love a good witness and testimony on God’s work in our lives. I’m all for it.  It’s inspiring and wonderful to hear or read about such things.  But one thing I am not for, is when people give false testimony and witness.

I think one has to be careful not to overly exaggerate and paint an incorrect or inaccurate picture of one’s past, simply to try to make God’s work in yourself even better than it is. God doesn’t need people to exaggerate their stories, simply to make his glory shine more. No, absolutely not! His glory shines completely fine without false testimony.

my favorite part of waking up…

My favorite part of waking up is being awoken to the sounds of birds chirping, and the faint smell of nature wafting through the open window. It’s a fragrance of grass, dew and freshness that simply brings a smile to one’s face as you begin to stir awake. There is both coolness and freshness in the air. It sings of God’s grace and favour upon us, shining and making this new day a special one… full of many many wonderful opportunties. It lets us know that today is a wholly entirely brand new day.

I haven’t written a post in a while. Not that it matters, cause I don’t have a viewing readership like some blogs out there in the blogosphere.

Part of my inactivity is related to general business with life, and just not being outraged or upset, or needing to vent over a social injustice or happening in society. I mean… other than that brief scare Andrew Speaker did with going against CDC orders and travelling half way across the world and back, while harbouring a very rare and resistant form of TB…. I don’t think I have much to vent about.

A few days ago it was my dad’s birthday. I’m not a big one to celebrate birthdays, or anniversaries, or things like that. In that respect I think I have more of a male perspective on things. Anyways, we took him out to a wonderful Asian restaurant, and had wonderful food and fellowship. Then we drove to a beautiful park in the city, where there is a stream running through it, with multiple bridges, hiking trails, ducks, and a garden to boot, and took a leisurely stroll though it. We talked, and talked and talked.

I so wished I had brought my camera with me that night. It was such a pleasant evening to spend with my dad.. and I think I’ll always remember it. It was so pleasant, yet very peaceful and extremely enjoyable… as we talked about many random things, both significant and insignificant. I think I will pack it specially away in my many treasure trove of “special memories”. It doesn’t take much sometimes to make special memories…

I forget how many blessings God gives us sometimes….. and start to look at the things that are difficult. Blessings of laughter, and being surrounded by loved ones… and good health…

But I remember now… and I can see His presense in the midst of my life here… and for that.. I am thankful and full of praise.

Hiking

It’s been a while that I’ve gone hiking through nature.

This coming Monday and Tuesday we’re actually planning to go hiking.  Hoping to buy some good hiking trail books for the area that we’re living in and and planning to do some pretty amazing hikes.

So exciting.  Hopefully I’ll get around to taking some amazing pictures while I’m at it.

Original song by Leonard Cohen… this song is rather haunting and sad.  I kind of wish the lyrics was simply only Hallelujah… without the other lyrics.

 Here are 2 different versions.

Life is an adventure…

Sometimes it’s so easy to get so caught up in something, that you only think of the end goal, and forget to enjoy the actual process.

We’ve moved out west… and since then, have really missed the living out east.  And in the process of missing the east coase… I think that I’ve also forgotten to enjoy what the west coast has to offer us.

I’ve decided to take sailing lessons while I’m here.  I love the water, and enjoy water sports, and have always wanted to sail.  What better opportunity than now.
